“Little” Secrets

There are six main secrets to having the healthiest plants possible, but that’s not the end of the story. There are a plethora of other very important “little” secrets to growing healthy plants. These include everything from starting your own seedlings to pest control.

Not being one of the six fundamentals, the “little” secrets often allow more leeway and room for individual preference in their specific application. As such, no one can tell you the “one right way” for any of them. For that reason, the explanations here aren’t proscriptive or prescriptive. Instead, they’re meant to give a starting point, an idea for another way of doing it, or food for thought as you explore your own options and experiments with your own ideas.

After all, gardening is a conversation, between us, the soil, sun, water, and our plants and between fellow gardeners. In each of those conversations, we must both act (talk) and listen to all involved in order to reach our highest levels of success. In this spirit, this website humbly offers a few ways of doing these highly negotiable acts to add to the conversation among gardeners in hopes that it lights the path a little for some, especially those who care but have yet to come to know, so that they might feel confident enough to make it their own and then pass it on to others that it may reforge the link of being passed down for all generations.
